UX Designer

Design product UX and creatives with the best AI and design tools in the market. Taste and empathy first; the tools make you fast.

Kota, on-site Full-time 0 to 4 years Figma + AI tools

About the role

We build AI-powered content products, and design at VMD moves at the same pace as our engineering: AI-first, ship-daily, judgment over grind. We are looking for a designer who uses AI as a creative partner: someone who goes from a fuzzy idea to user flows, polished UI, and production-ready creatives in days, not weeks.

This role is less about pixel-pushing stamina and more about taste, empathy, and speed. You put yourself in the customer's shoes, feel where the product confuses or delights them, and design the path of least friction. AI tools generate the options; you bring the judgment that picks and polishes the winner.

The one-line test: given a rough feature idea, can you come back within a week with user flows, high-fidelity screens, and the marketing creative to launch it, already tested on a real user? If yes, apply.

This is an on-site position. We move fast, pair tightly, and think best in the same room.

A note on experience: 0 to 4 years means exactly that. If you are fresh out of college with a portfolio of shipped or self-initiated work built with modern AI tools, you are exactly who we want to meet. Portfolio beats resume, every time.

What you'll actually do

  • Own product UX end to end: research, user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity UI, and clean handoff to engineers.
  • Produce creatives for the product and its marketing: landing pages, social assets, and in-product visuals.
  • Use AI tools as a first-draft machine: generate many directions in an hour, then apply taste to refine the best one.
  • Prototype in hours, not weeks: clickable Figma prototypes and AI-built live mockups the team can react to the same day.
  • Sit in on customer conversations, feel real problems firsthand, and turn what you hear into design decisions.
  • Build and maintain the design system so engineers and their agents ship consistent UI without you in the loop.

Must-haves

Behavioral

  • Designs from the customer's shoes. Your first question is never "what should this look like", it is "what is this person trying to do, and what is getting in their way". Empathy is your sharpest design tool.
  • Runs toward the frontier. New design tools ship every week and you have probably already tried half of them. The pace of AI reads to you as a bigger canvas, not a threat to your craft.
  • Has taste. You can tell the difference between generated and good, and you know how to close the gap. AI raises the floor; you own the ceiling.
  • Ships and iterates in public. You share work early, take feedback without ego, and would rather test with a real user than debate in a meeting.
  • High agency. Finds the problems worth solving, fills gaps, and pushes designs to shipped without hand-holding.

Craft and tools

  • Fluent in Figma: auto layout, components, variables, and prototyping. It is the industry standard and our design home.
  • Daily use of AI design and prototyping tools: Figma Make, v0 by Vercel, Lovable, or Framer to go from idea to working prototype fast.
  • Generates creatives with Midjourney, DALL-E, or similar, then finishes them properly in Photoshop or Illustrator.
  • Uses LLMs like Claude or ChatGPT for ideation, UX writing, and synthesizing research into insights.
  • Strong fundamentals: hierarchy, spacing, typography, color, and accessibility basics. AI cannot fake these for you.
  • Can explain every decision: why this flow, why this layout, why this word. Design you cannot defend is decoration.
  • Responsive, mobile-first thinking, with enough of an HTML and CSS mental model to hand off cleanly to engineers.

Good-to-haves

  • Motion design: After Effects, Rive, or Lottie.
  • Shipped sites in Webflow or Framer.
  • Usability testing experience with tools like Maze or Useberry.
  • Design system experience beyond a single project.
  • Brand and identity work: logos, type systems, campaign visuals.

How we work

Ship-daily culture, tight feedback loops, and AI-orchestrated review. We give you the best tools in the market, real customers to learn from, and the autonomy to use both. Bring the taste.
